A Better Model For Arts Education
Formed in 1994, the Helpmann Academy is a unique partnership of the major tertiary arts training establishments in South Australia offering award courses for people seeking professional careers in the arts.
The Academy unifies the skills and resources of South Australia 's universities and TafeSA, bringing together courses in music, dance, drama, directing, visual arts, technical theatre production and design.
The Academy's partners offer unparalleled standards in teaching resources, equipment and opportunities. The Academy's Board of Governors consists of Vice Chancellors from South Australia 's three universities, the Chief Executive of DFEEST, or their delegates, and leading representatives of the arts and business sectors.
Overseas Connections
All the Academy schools take a global perspective on arts training, forging strong links with overseas arts institutions. Exchanges have taken place in the visual arts, drama, dance and music to New Zealand, United States of America, Indonesia, Japan, China, and Europe. The number of overseas students attending courses in Academy partner
institutions has increased dramatically especially in music, dance and visual arts.
Encouraging overseas artists to attend partner schools has resulted in visits by
performers and artists from around the world.
