The Helpmann Academy is pleased to provide publicity services to the staff, students and graduates of its partner schools. It is estimated that over $350,000 worth of free editorial is generated from this office per annum. 3000+ people read our quarterly Update Arts Magazine and 1000+ receive our fortnightly e-Bulletin.

Media Releases

We recognise that staff, students and recent graduates can benefit greatly from the up-to-date media contacts and the strategic advice that our PR & Marketing Manager can provide. Increasing demands for the publicity services of the Helpmann Academy have demonstrated its value. In order for us to offer you as comprehensive service as possible we ask the following;

At least three weeks* before your exhibition or performance opens please provide the following details via email or on disc:

• Draft media release
• Artist statement / director’s biography
• Images of artwork which will be included in your exhibition / production images / head shot of your director/choreographer as a 300dpi jpg

The draft media release should include the following details:

• Title of project
• Dates, times, location
• For exhibititons: when is the opening and who is the guest speaker
• Artists involved
• Quote from the artists, director or someone relevent to the event
• A description of the exhibition/performance/event

Submission Policies

- The Helpmann Academy will exercise editorial control over all media releases generated.

- Media releases will not be sent out less than two weeks before an opening.

- Fringe Festival and SALA Festival exhibition/performance details must be submitted six weeks prior to the festivals opening.

*Submit your details earlier than three weeks if you would like magazine coverage.

We prioritise publicity services in the following order:

1. Helpmann Academy initiatives

2. Helpmann Academy funded initiatives

3. Projects involving staff, students or recent graduates (up to 4 years out of study) from our Partner Schools
